Got me some peaches

Took my parents and Grant to get some peaches down at Schnepf Farms this morning.  It was really fun.  Grant loved picking them off the trees.  He also loved looking at the reindeer with Grandpa.  Now I think I'll just sit around all day (or at least during nap time) and eat fresh peaches!

Peach Fest

This past weekend we headed out to Schnepf Farms for their annual peach festival.  I've wanted to go for a few years now, but this year I actually remembered it and put it on my calendar.  We did have a fun day, but we had a very important birthday party to go to for our Nephew, that we didn't want to miss, so we ended up leaving without peaches.  Silly, I know, but fortunately they still have some peaches that you can go down and pick this weekend.

Notes for next year:

• Get to the farm right when it opens.
• Pick peaches first.  It takes a good bit of time to ride the hay ride out to the peach trees, pick the peaches, stand in line to pay for them, then stand in line to ride back.
• If there's a long line for the yummy peach pancake breakfast, skip it and just get lunch from the short line.
• Wear a hat.

The Garden of Eden by Stanley Galli

I love this picture, but I cannot find it for sale ANYWHERE!  It was featured in the Jan 2006 Ensign.  I like the kind of modern look to it, even though the guy that painted it was born in 1912.  

He did lots of other art like this.

It's not like it's a popular piece, but has anyone else ever seen it anywhere?  It would look so good in a nice white frame in my future kitchen....someday.

Do you have an emergency contact list?  I just made mine today.  I've been meaning to do this for years, but today was the day that I actually took the time, and it really wasn't hard.  

I needed a list that I could keep in a convenient spot.  Something for our quick reference, but also important to have for when a babysitter is here.  It's just a brief list, but I wouldn't want to have to go find these phone numbers should I need them.

My Sweet Boy

I had been saving all of my dolls and stuffed animals from growing up.  I thought I'd want to show them to my kids.  Well I changed my mind and in an effort to get rid of stuff that's not even being used, I got rid of almost all of them about a month or so ago.  I kept this cabbage patch kid because she's in good shape and she has a cute bottle that goes with her.  I gave her to Grant so he can practice taking care of a baby.  He's so cute with her.  And don't worry, he totally still plays with all of his boy toys.  In fact he hardly ever plays with the doll, but when he does he's so gentle.  It's adorable.  Here he is when he was sick last week.  He took care of the doll and even tried taking her temperature.  What a sweet boy I have!

My MBA Man

Keith graduated with his MBA on Friday.  He actually finishes his last classes at the end of June, but he's pretty much done.  I'm so proud of him.  It's been a crazy last 18 months.  I think I married the Energizer bunny because this guy just keeps going.  With everything that he's had on his plate, he's managed to do it all.  Grant & I will be SO happy to see him a lot more after June.  Yeah!  And it's a good thing he'll be done then because after that it will only be 3 short months until our baby boy comes!  I'm so glad the timing worked out on that!

Update

I decided to take Grant to the doctor today.  Three days is long enough to try to get a kid better.  It's a good thing I went because he has a really bad double ear infection.  What?!  He's never had an ear infection before.  Ever.  And he hadn't even been pulling his ears or acting like they were bothering him.  I guess he's just a tough kid.  It's so good to know what's going on.  Now I can really get him better.

Waiting it out

This little man of mine has had a fever since he woke up from his nap on Monday.  He wasn't looking so good the day before, but was acting pretty normal.  I went in to check on him about an hour ago and he was shivering and his temp was just above 103.  So he got a dose of Ibuprofen and a drink of water and went back to sleep right away.  

So I've been waiting to go back in to make sure the medicines working......

.......I'm back.  It's working.  He feels so much cooler.  Temp is down.  I'm going to bed, finally!

The boys are back

This was Grant's first camping trip ever.  Keith was so excited to take him on the Father & Son's campout with our ward this past weekend.  To me it sounded like the perfect recipe for a sleepless night for Keith, but Grant slept all night long and loved being up there with his dad.  It was really fun getting Grant's stuff together for the campout.  He was so excited for his backpack, flashlight, and Jr. sized sleeping bag.  And then my Mom & I went shopping that night and I got to sleep in the next day.  That was great!  Maybe they should have these campouts more often.  :)

Baby Boy #2 (kind of curled up a little)

It was so fun to get our ultrasound today.  The tech did a great job and we got to see tons of different angles of this little guy.  He was opening and closing his mouth a lot and kept waving at us.  Oh, I'm in love already.  Two boys.  Huh.  Never thought I'd have two boys.  It's going to be soooooo fun!  Grant and his new little brother will be about 2 years & 7 1/2 months apart.  So Grant will have to wait a while to rough house with him, but I'm sure there will be plenty of that as they get older.  Oh boy!

P.S. Oh ya, and it looks like he's going to have big hands, just like me.  :)

Something was definitely missing

When I went to get Grant this morning I noticed that his blanket, bear, PJ's bottoms and a diaper were laying on his floor.  It wasn't until I realized that the diaper was totally dry that I knew we had a problem.  Apparently after we checked on him last night, before we went to bed, Grant decided to wake up, pull off his PJ shorts and take off his diaper and throw it on the floor.  His bed was soaked!  I asked him why he did this and he had a great explanation, but I couldn't understand any of it of course.  I tried to explain that he needed to keep his diaper on, but I don't think much of that sank it.  He kind of seemed happy about it all.  So he got a quick bath and I started cleaning up the mess.  I really hope he doesn't do this again.  At least it wasn't #2 (knock on wood)!
