Last week, along with my parents, we went to the lovely cool states of Colorado and Wyoming. It was so nice to get away. And it's nice to be back, but I could have stayed at my grandparents house 'till the end of summer...the very end of summer. :) Keith did have a special surprise ready for me when we got back. He had a misting system put in around our back patio and a sprinkler timer thing put on for our plants in the back! What a great surprise and I'm even more surprised that he was able to keep it a secret from me.
Somewhere in Colorado we lost our camera. We are still hoping it will magically appear at my grandparents house or in our car, and that it won't be gone forever. I don't really care too much about the camera, but I'm sick over losing the great pictures that we had on it from the first half of our trip. So here's a few pics from my phone. Luckily my mom took a bunch of pictures on her camera. I can't wait to see them.
So we went to my Grandparent's house in Colorado (one of my favorite places ever) and we stayed there for a couple days before heading to Wyoming to visit my sisters and see my youngest sister's new baby girl. She was adorable!
While in Colorado we walked down by the river (Where we last had our camera. I can just imagine it sitting alone and lost on the side of the path!), relaxed, played outside, ate yummy treats, did a little shopping (more on that later), enjoyed visiting with my grandparents, lots of golfing for Keith and Grant, walked in the mountains, and just enjoyed ourselves.
So shopping. There is this great thrift store by my grandparent's mall. It never fails to have great stuff. I really don't ever have success in finding great things at Goodwill here, but this place is well stocked, especially with baby and kids clothes. I stocked up on a bunch of clothes for Grant for this winter, next summer, and beyond. They were all name brand clothes in practically brand new condition and they were each $2.00 or under! Awesome. I happily washed them when we got home and put them in the new under-bed containers that I had just organized all our baby boy clothes in. I love having clothes and shoes and such in larger sizes for Grant. It makes me feel prepared. And I like to shop when my favorite stores are having big sales, or of course when we go to Colorado. I also got a few great things for our new little boy. He'll be pretty close to the season that Grant was in when he was born, but off season enough that he'll need a few more warmer clothes. What better place to find warmer clothes than in a cooler place!
Okay, on with the trip. Here's Grant playing with my favorite game, "Don't Spill The Beans." He liked pouring the beans from one container to the next, and then would just scatter them all over the room when he was done.
Grant was in heaven playing outside so much. He loved playing with his cars in the backyard and riding his firetruck scooter around the outside of the house. He went to the golf course twice with Keith. Keith went 4 times.
On our way to Wyoming, we got to stop at a cemetery where a bunch of my ancestor's are buried. My mom has been working on her family history for a while and there was some missing information that we were able to get while we where there. It was a really old, really neat cemetery with big trees and lots of grass.
We also stopped at a yummy pizza place and decorated a napkin for their wall. My mom was the artist and we gave her some ideas. I hope it lives a long life on the wall, because it sure looks cool.
We had an interesting time in Wyoming. The little town that my sister's live in is well...little. All the hotels were pretty much sold out (Keith Urban was in town) and we checked into 2 different hotels before calling our search quits and sleeping on my sister's couch in her apartment. The second night we slept in style at the new Hilton. There really is a reason why some hotels are really cheap. I suggest not finding out why.
While in Wyoming, we went to my niece's baby blessing, we visited the bridge that goes over the train tracks. Grant loved seeing the trains come through town. He even got one to blow it's whistle for him. It was sooooo loud! We had a fun fire in the mountains and roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. We also enjoyed the cool weather at the park after the baby blessing, where we had barbecued hamburgers. There was a splash pad at the park. Grant couldn't resist, so we put him in his swim suit and let him at it. He was in for a surprise when he realized that the water was a whole lot colder in WY than it is in AZ. He just kind of stood there with a confused looked, and then would play a little, but mostly stood there and shivered. It was a short lived moment. We wrapped him up and took him to get dressed.
On our way back to Colorado, from Wyoming, we got to stop by at one of my former roommate's house. I hadn't seen her in 5 years. It was fun to see her adorable kids and have a quick visit.
We had one more day in Colorado before we headed back down here to the heat. Don't you love it when you're away from home long enough that you come back and your house looks fresh and beautiful. I think when I'm home all the time staring at the same stuff I start thinking about how I could redo things, make improvements, and what projects need to be done. But when I'm gone for a long time, it's like I come back with fresh eyes and everything looks just fine the way it is. Probably a good thing. HOWEVER......I do have a baby room that I need to put together in the next few weeks. Things are coming along with it, and I'll have to post pictures when I'm done. If I find my camera by then!
