It's been nearly two weeks since we loaded up our van and took off before the sun came up to head out on our summer adventure.
Our first stop was Keith's sister's house in Utah.
We had a ton of fun with her family! We played a lot, went to Park City one morning, went to the lake on their fun boat, ate yummy food, went on a beautiful hike in the mountains, and went to a fun concert at their outdoor ampitheater.
We also got to be a part of their ward's Pioneer Day Parade. The kids all met together to decorate their bikes and scooters and then they followed the fire truck through the neighborhood and to the church parking lot for pancakes. It was so fun, and I'm glad we were able to be there where the weather's cool enough to do something like this!
One of the neighbors had a couple really neat trees out front with huge leaves.
Our hike was so beautiful! We were blown away by all of the colorful wildflowers!
Cousins!
It was so cold at the start! We didn't have our jackets with us, but we did have a few beach towels in the back of the van, so we wrapped our kids up in those for a while. If I had known how warm it would get after a short while, I would have left the towels in the car. But it was really, really cold, especially for us hot desert dwellers!
I always try to get a picture of every flower along the trail when we hike. I don't know if I accomplished that this time, but here are a bunch of pretty flowers that I did get.
The next two were my favorite for sure.
This pink one looks like it could eat something!
And this one just looks so cool! I love the spider web on it too!
I wish we had pictures of our trip to Park City and the lake. I think Keith might have a couple on his phone. I'll have to add those here later.
In Park City we rode on the Alpine Slides and played mini golf. That was so fun and I wish we could spend a few days there! When our kids get older I think we'll have to go again and stay for a while.
After Park City we met Keith's sister's family at the lake. It was fun. Brett was super nervous to be on a boat and wouldn't let go of my hand. Then I got him to go on the tube with me and it was like a switch flipped. He loved it! He went three times and couldn't get enough and loved being on the boat! Then a huge microburst came on our way back to the dock and it was like we were in a hurricane! It was crazy. And super cold. My lips turned purple. I was trying to shelter Camille from the water that was flying over the boat. I felt like a mother chicken hovering over her baby to keep it safe from danger. :) It was quite exciting and eased up by the time we made it back to the dock.
That's all for the first leg of our trip. More to come soon!
