May 2017

May sure flew by this year!  We went from warm days and cooler evenings where we could eat dinner outside to hot days and hot evenings where we stayed inside with the AC running.  The garden started flourishing and the peach tree filled with blush colored fruit.  Here's a recap of some of our happenings that month:

These three were with while Grant was at school.  In just a couple months it will only be the two little ones here with me during the day.  Brett will be a great Kindergartener and Camille will be going to preschool a couple times a week.  So really those couple days will leave me here alone with little Tyler.  Wow!

Dining al fresco on a beautiful perfect temperature evening.

Our first zuchinni.

We kept up our daily jogs throughout May, but had to go earlier in the morning to beat the heat.  Ty loves to rest his feet on the bar!

We harvested the rest of our beets from our fall garden.

I caught this rare moment of peace between these two as they snacked on a bowl of cheerios just outside the back door.  I'm hoping they'll appreciate each other more when they aren't with each other all day, every day.

It's so fun to see Tyler playing with the boys!

Golf lessons.

Tyler has loved getting into little spaces lately.

Love that grin of his!

Making brownies for our family night dessert.

Shucking corn for dinner.

Tyler having fun with the pinwheel in our garden.

Enjoying a cool evening in the backyard.

We like to put the couches together like this to watch movies.  And we really liked watching "Sing."  It's so funny.  Especially the lizard secretary with the glass eye!

Sporting his striped PJ's.

Grant had this crazy loose tooth FOREVER!  He wouldn't let us pull it for him and he tried for a while to get it out this day, but it ended up popping out the next morning when he pushed it with his tongue.  Thank goodness!

Brett's preschool had another awesome garden this year.  All the kids got to go home with a bag full of veggies and a giant sunflower.

Brett worked hard to get all of those seeds off.  I feel bad that I didn't have time to roast them right away.  I forgot about them and then I just found them today and they were all fuzzy with mold.  Bummer!

I can't remember what these three were up to, but I remember thinking I had to get a picture of them sitting there all cute like that.

"Hanging out" with friends.  Haha! ;)

This big boy's sporting his cute new church shoes.

This shows Camille's personality perfectly.  Oh boy!  I really hope she mellows out a bit as she grows up!

Enjoying a pleasant evening outside.

"I'm done already!!!"

My little mess maker.

Another small place to climb into.

Peach picking.
We learned a thing or two about peaches this year.  Like the difference between freestone and clingstone peaches.  Unfortunately we have the latter.  But they are super sweet and tasty.  Just really hard to work with if you want to do anything fancy with them.

Glad we could finish most of the harvesting when cousin Hazel was here to help.

Brett was the best harvester.  He moved the step ladder around under those branches and got right up in there and was the one who helped me finish the work.  He really has a gift for working hard and smart.

My bro-in-law looked at this peach and said, "It's too bad we don't have any rolly-eyes."  And I said, "I do have some!  Right here!"  I keep them in my kitchen drawer so I can occasionally add them to Grant's apples in his lunch.  So he picked out this set of eyes and we all had a good laugh.

Silly kids.

I got to visit the Young Women in our ward one night to talk a bit about scripture study.  I whipped these labels up real quick and put them on some mini candy bars to make them look like little iPhones since so many of these girls read their scriptures on their phones these days.  My kids thought they were awesome and I enjoyed doing something creative.

See?  He really does like to rest those feet up there!

Silly boy!

One morning we took our jog through a trail at a local park.  It was so pretty and it was nice to switch up the location.

This was our first basket full of peaches.  Yum!
