I'm thinking he looks wiser

Happy Birthday Keith!

Out to dinner last Friday.
Keith's parent's graciously accepted having Grant over for a sleepover so we could enjoy a night to ourselves

(and a morning without waking up to an alarm clock or a kid).

After we picked up Grant from his sleep over we went on a very short hike.
It was hot and my body was fighting me on this hike.
Keith wanted to go all the way to the end of the trail.
No way sir!  Sorry.
There was a guy coming down the trail with a golf club.  He takes it with him to fend off rattle snakes.
He said he hadn't seen any that day, but saw two last week!  Not cool!

After this we went to a super yummy lunch at Crackers & Co.

Where's the car?

I decided to give Keith a little surprise dinner birthday party (a day early) after work yesterday.
I hurried around  in the afternoon and decorated the patio and made some yummy food.
Keith's parents came over and we all had a fun time.

A fun game that Keith got from his parents.

And for his birthday dessert- banana cream pie.  Grant loved the candles.
You can see here that he's trying to blow them out before the birthday boy gets a chance.

Cinderella got her butt kicked

So I'm a couple weeks into my 2nd trimester and I've been feeling mostly good.  Not sick any more (hooray), just feeling the aches and pains that come with a growing belly.  I've been walking almost every morning and that has been such a nice start to the day.  The past couple days I've been so full of energy.  So this morning when Keith asked me what I was going to do for the day, I said, "I'm going to pretend to be Cinderella."  And then I listed off all of the things that I was going to do around the house.  But as soon as I was done eating breakfast I hit a wall.  I was so tired!  I slept on the couch for a couple hours while Grant ran wild.  During Grant's nap time I did get the bathrooms clean and the sheets and towels washed.  And then I called it quits.  I spent the rest of the day playing with Grant, and trying to take it as easy as I could.  I kept looking at the clock and couldn't wait for Grant's bed time.  I was so ready to be done for the day.  And now he's sleeping.  Sigh.  He really is so much fun.  We have quite the fun time together every day.  He is also soooooooo full of energy.  He loves to rough house, which is hard for me to do lately.  He also loves to have me toss him balls so he can hit them with his baseball bat.  I can handle that.
Here's to a peaceful night, and an early bed time.  Night, night.
Running, running, running.

An Outing

Playing around in a practice bunker.
We went on a family golf outing Friday evening.  I drove the golf cart, which had two golf bags strapped onto the back... one for Keith, and a little one for Grant.  It was so cute to watch the boys golf together.  Keith would tee off and then Grant would hit a few balls from that point too.  Then Grant would stay in the cart with me until we got to the green and then he'd get out and putt around.  I tell you what, watch out for this kid.  He's obsessed with golf.  You'd probably think that we force it on him, or that we make him practice, but it's all him.  He practices on his own all the time.  I think it's just been built into his genes.

Something that made my day

This cute kid made my day.  Just this morning, he FINALLY said Mom!  Well it was really Ma and Mama.  I couldn't believe my ears at first, but then he kept saying it.  I feel SO loved!  He's not one for many words yet.  As he was laying in his crib for bed tonight he and I were going through the words he's recently picked up.  Da (Dad), Ma and Mama, Papa, No, Trash, Ball, and Bubble.  I'm so proud of him!

Happy trails to you

The mountains were calling Keith's name.  So we headed east.  I wasn't sure how long I would last on the trail, but I loved it!  What a beautiful day.  Occasionally we could hear the whistle of a train from the nearby ghost town.  Grant would get all excited, we'd listen, and then he'd make his train whistle sound too.  So cute!
Grant loved hiking, but I think he loved collecting a few rocks at the end even more than he enjoyed the hike.  He held them in his hands on the way home until he fell asleep (which didn't take long).  We did a whole trail and made it home just in time to all take a long, much needed, nap.

On the way

Being silly with his glasses

Getting really sleepy half way through

All done and going home

Happy trails to you!

Finishing it off with a splash

It's the best when Keith comes with us to the pool.

Grant had so much fun playing with his dad on the beach.

Hope you had a great Spring Break too!

Thank you Grandma Jackson for so much swimming fun last week!  We loved every minute of it!
